Your political compass

Where do you stand politically?

Take this anonymous online test called The Political Compass, and see your position on the grid between Authoritarianism and Libertarianism, between Left and Right.

You can answer each question Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, or Strongly Disagree. You'll probably find several where you want to answer "No Opinion," or even "I Don't Care." But, there being neither of those options, you must chose between the given responses to finish the test.

Here is my result. I guess my middle-of-the-road libertarian philosophy is why I've clashed from time to time with more rigid, right-wing, authoritarian Masonic "authority figures."

What's your position on the graph?

  2. Most folks are surprised that all our political leaders from both parties are in the Upper Right quadrant and that your average person's values are below and left of their leaders. It is partially the Autoritarian/Conservative skewing of the political discourse. I think we need to reserect Bro. Teddy Roosevelt and the Bull Moose Party! "But there is another harm; and it is evident that we should try to do away with that. The great corporations which we have grown to speak of rather loosely as trusts are the creatures of the State, and the State not only has the right to control them, but it is duty bound to control them wherever the need of such control is shown."

  7. Did that test a while back - quite accurate with me. I was just a touch further to right and more liberal.

  8. I've taken this test a few times over the years and my views and score has remained pretty constant. The one thing that bothers me is that I rate much more liberal then I think I actually am. The abortion question must be scored very heavily to the right or something. I am very libertarian in my views especially regarding the welfare state, however I do join the left on the religion questions. Still I would think I am more conservative then the test results would lean one to believe.
